Home Office
Problems:
This was a very small home office space with inadequate open storage. The wall shelving took away from comfort, and created a claustrophobic feel. The desktop computer covered most of the desk surface, leaving no room for paying bills and writing, and the bookshelf was cluttered
Solutions:
We sorted the paper and supplies, and actually found many items that did not belong in a home office. We moved those items as needed, and then had lots of extra space for important office-related items. The owner was already interested in a new laptop to replace the large desktop computer, so the writing surface became much more useful. We then created an open feel to the space by taking the heavy wood shelving down, and replaced it with small wire mesh shelves. Vertical paper storage was created by covering the walls with corkboard. The bookshelf was repurposed to hold storage boxes, instead of random books and papers.
Supplies:
Large sheet of corkboard, wood trim, 13 storage boxes. 2 mesh shelves, pen/pencil cup, telephone, laptop computer.
